About us

How nice that you want to get to know us! We are Sanne and Hiske Veenstra. Besides being the mum and dad of three beautiful daughters, we have also been responsible for the ins and outs of De Berenkuil since 2016. This continues the family business. We are now the third generation of Veenstra/Zingstra at the helm. 

Sanne grew up at De Berenkuil and Hiske spent several years camping at De Berenkuil with her parents. In 2003, Hiske started holiday work in the Berenkuil recreation team. That's how we met! After finishing our studies in Zwolle and Groningen, we had our own working lives. In 2016, we decided to take over De Berenkuil from Sanne's parents. We have since been working here with great pleasure for many years!

The Berenkuil in figures

De Berenkuil estate consists of a 55-hectare site, 30 hectares of which are used for recreation. There are 460 camping pitches and 35 rental accommodations. Besides the large playground and playing at the play pond, there are 27 small playgrounds scattered around the campsite. When De Berenkuil is completely full, there are about 2,000 guests on the site. It employs 9 permanent staff, with around 60 holiday staff added during the season.
