Frequently asked questions
De Berenkuil is car-free, which means that you can only enter the campsite by car on your arrival and departure days. During your stay you can use our luggage trolleys for free. Except in emergencies, we do not allow cars through the barrier from 20:00 to 08:30.
De Berenkuil is a true children's campsite, so it is very important to us that especially the children can enjoy a carefree holiday in a healthy environment, which is why De Berenkuil is not only car-free but also largely non-smoking.
This means no smoking in areas where children congregate. In addition to no smoking anywhere indoors, the smoke-free zones at De Berenkuil are:
- The terrace
- All playgrounds
- Swimming pool
- Playpond
- Outdoor theatre
- Around the Boar's Den
There is no problem for guests to smoke on their own pitch or when walking around the campsite.
Besides being car-free, a major focus of De Berenkuil is evening quiet. After 10:30 p.m. it should be (whisper) quiet. At a campsite in the middle of nature without ambient noise, the sound carries far. This means that your late-night "sociability" can be a nuisance to dozens of families around you. Our night watchman safeguards this evening peace.
At De Berenkuil dogs are allowed, but of course we also have pet-free fields. It is important to indicate the dog during a reservation, then the places where dogs are allowed will come up. Per pitch a maximum of 2 dogs are allowed, in addition we have some cottages where dogs are allowed.
On the fields Kwikstaart, Bosrand, Middenstreek and 't Tippie dogs are not allowed. Dogs are also allowed throughout the campsite. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times in the campground, including on the site itself, and must be walked outside the campground. Right outside the campground are several hiking areas where dogs are also allowed off-leash. If an accident happens we ask you to clean it up, poop bags are available at the reception.
Free WiFi is available all over the campsite, you can log in with username guest and password guest. You should note that the speed goes down in the evening hours when many people are using wireless internet at the same time.
We always make sure the pool is open from the regular May vacation (Dutch holiday). We use a cover to minimize temperature loss during the night and on cool days we leave it on as long as possible. If the cover is on and you would like to swim, please let reception know and we will take it off for you.
During high season the pool opens at 8:30 am and closes at 8:00 pm.
We have a recreation program at Easter, May vacation, Ascension and Pentecost. From Ascension there is also a recreation program every weekend. A week before the first summer vacation starts there is a daily program. This then continues until the last day of the summer vacation (Dutch holidays).
We always offer a program during the regular vacations, especially around the May vacations, Ascension and Pentecost there may be an extra vacation week for some regions. It is possible that we also offer a program for these weeks, if so we will communicate this via our Facebook page and via the website.
Our animation programme is in Dutch only.
Party tents are not allowed at De Berenkuil. Not only do they ruin the appearance, the construction of a party tent makes them very susceptible to wind gusts. This does not benefit the safety of you and your immediate surroundings.
Party tents that pass under the name shelter are also not allowed.
A good alternative is a tarp.
