General terms and conditions

Camping regulations

On this page, you can read the general terms and conditions of De Berenkuil. When making a booking, you agree to these terms and conditions, as well as to the Recron terms and conditions. View the Recron terms for camping (PDF) and holiday homes (PDF).

Reservations

It is possible to book a stay at De Berenkuil by phone, at the desk, via email, or through the website. You are always responsible for providing the correct information for your booking. Therefore, always carefully check the confirmation you receive after making a reservation.

The payment terms depend on the booking date in relation to the arrival date. Generally, the number of payment terms ranges from 1 to 4 terms. Exceptions can be made upon request.

We work with dynamic pricing, which means that rates may change during the season. This is often based on supply and demand.

Cancellation of a holiday

It is always possible to cancel your holiday at De Berenkuil, but this comes with costs. The amount of the cancellation fee is determined based on the time between cancellation and the start of the booked stay. The Recron terms and conditions apply to all cancellations.

It is possible to add cancellation insurance to your booking. Cancellation insurance can only be added at the time of booking, not afterward. If the cancellation does not meet the terms of the cancellation insurance, the booking will still be canceled according to the Recron terms and conditions.

The cost of cancellation insurance is 4.5% of the total amount. If you cancel according to the cancellation insurance, you will be refunded the total amount paid minus the cost of the cancellation insurance.

Target audience

De Berenkuil focuses exclusively on families with children of primary school age, up to 11 years old. Our recreational activities and facilities are tailored to this age group. Children aged 12 and older will not find the level of challenge they seek. If you are traveling with children aged 12 and older, we advise you to choose another campsite.

Smoke-free

As a family campsite, it is important to us that children can stay safely and carefree at De Berenkuil. Therefore, we are not only car-free but also largely smoke-free. Smoking is prohibited in the following communal areas:

All indoor areas

The terrace in front of the main building

All playgrounds

The swimming pool

The play pond

The open-air theater

Around Berenhol and Honingpot

Around the toilet buildings

The Berenbos

Evening quiet

At De Berenkuil, evening quiet is important. From 10:30 PM, the campsite is whisper-quiet. Be aware that in a natural environment without background noise, sound travels far, and most camping equipment is not soundproof. Therefore, even before 10:30 PM, you should be considerate of all other guests. Our night watch ensures the enforcement of the evening quiet.

Car-free

De Berenkuil is a car-free campsite, meaning you may only bring your car onto the campsite on your arrival and departure days to unload or pack. During your stay, you can use our luggage carts, which are available near our large parking lot. We do not allow cars through the barrier between 8:00 PM and 8:15 AM, except in emergencies. Groceries, a sleeping child in the car, or rain are not considered emergencies or exceptions to this policy. If you do drive on the campsite, you must adjust your speed and drive at walking pace. Motorbikes and scooters must also be parked outside the barrier.

No electric scooters and hoverboards allowed

For the safety of our guests and staff, electric vehicles such as hoverboards, electric scooters, electric skateboards, and electric motorbikes are not allowed in our park. Electric bicycles are allowed, provided their speed is adjusted to the surroundings at all times.

Social responsibility

De Berenkuil staff do their best to ensure everything runs smoothly at the campsite, but we cannot be everywhere at once. Since camping is a social activity, we trust that our guests will address any issues with each other and help where needed. If guests notice a defect, malfunction, or issue that they cannot resolve themselves, they can report it via WhatsApp.

Party tents not allowed

Party tents, event shelters, and day tents (or similar variations) are not allowed at De Berenkuil, even if used as a replacement for an awning, canopy, or extra tent. No exceptions are made.

Use of fencing

You are allowed to fence off your camping area with chicken wire or something similar with fine mesh. This fence may only be secured with pegs or stakes that are as thin as tent pegs and can easily be placed in the ground without tools. It is not allowed to install stakes that damage the ground, such as wooden posts that require a ground drill or large hammer.

It is not allowed to block a passage or enlarge your camping spot with the fence. You may only use the fence to enclose the immediate living area around your camping setup, for example, to prevent your pet from escaping. Pets must be on a leash at all times on the campsite.

Dogs allowed, but not everywhere

Dogs are generally allowed at De Berenkuil. However, the following areas are completely dog-free: Kwikstaart, ’t Tippie, Veldje de Bosrand, and Middenstreek. In most holiday homes, dogs are not allowed. Dogs are welcome in cottages Brunie (Woody) and Basje and Bolke (Woody Plus).

Dogs are not allowed in the swimming pool and the play pond. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, and dog owners are given poop bags upon arrival in case their dog accidentally poops on the campsite. If your dog barks when you leave, you should not leave them alone. A maximum of 2 dogs per camping spot or holiday home is allowed.

One main camping unit per spot

Only one main camping unit is allowed per camping spot. It is therefore not allowed to place two or more caravans, trailer tents, motorhomes, or large tents (or a combination of these) on one camping spot. Under certain conditions, additional small tents are allowed.

Trailers

If your camping spot is suitable, it is allowed to place a small trailer or luggage wagon of up to 2.5 m2 on your spot. This must be arranged with reception. High trailers, such as those with a cover or horse trailers, are not allowed and must always be parked in one of the parking lots.

Additional tents

One extra small tent of up to 4 square meters is included in the price of a camping spot. You can book one additional small tent of up to 4 square meters for an extra fee. You can also book a small tent of between 4 and 6 square meters for an additional fee, but in this case, you cannot place another extra tent on the camping spot. It is not allowed to place a (small) tent next to a holiday home.

Recreation program

From the moment we open until we close, there is a recreation program during regular holidays and public holidays. From Ascension onwards, there is also a recreation program during individual weekends (on Saturdays and Sundays). After the regular summer holidays, we no longer offer a recreation program. The current recreation program can be viewed via the De Berenkuil app. All activities are free, except for the Children’s Fair. The proceeds from the Children’s Fair are donated to KiKa. You will never find bingo on our program, and we do not offer a (children’s) disco.

Barbecue and open fires

Barbecuing is allowed at De Berenkuil, provided the barbecue is on legs and there is always a bucket of water or sand ready to quickly extinguish a fire. Be mindful of all other guests when barbecuing, ensuring that they are not inconvenienced by your barbecue. Campfires or any other open fire are not allowed. You must ensure that the fire in the barbecue does not rise above the edge of the barbecue. It may be possible that we impose a barbecue ban due to prolonged drought, which we will communicate via the Berenkuil app.

Use of air conditioning

It is allowed to use air conditioning during the day, provided other guests are not disturbed by the noise. On a quiet campsite, the sound of the outdoor unit can be more noticeable, so the use of air conditioning is not allowed between 10:30 PM and 8:30 AM. Even if other guests indicate they are not disturbed by the air conditioning, it is still not allowed during the above time.

CCTV Surveillance

De Berenkuil has security cameras in various strategic locations. These are installed for your safety and ours. The footage is stored for a period of time and can be reviewed later if an emergency or incident occurs.

Receiving visitors

It is possible to receive visitors. Visitors must register at reception, and the visitor’s fee is 2 euros per person. If visitors also want to use the swimming pool and indoor playground, they pay 5 euros per person, plus 2.50 euros for the access wristband. You are responsible for your visitors, so you should inform them of the do’s and don’ts at De Berenkuil upon or before arrival, and ensure they follow these rules. Visitors should not negatively impact the stay of your fellow campers. Receiving too many visitors at once is therefore not advisable; spread out visits over the day. Visitors must leave the premises before 10:00 PM.

Electrical capacity

Each camping spot has access to 10 amps of electricity (2300 watts). It is not possible to increase the amperage. In general, 10 amps is sufficient for average camping use. If there is a power outage due to overloading or malfunction, you can reset it yourself at the nearest central power box. Ensure that the devices causing the overload are unplugged.

If you continue to have problems with the stability of the power supply, you can ask the reception for assistance from the outdoor service. De Berenkuil is not responsible for any damage caused by power outages.

Guests and subletting

It is possible to have guests stay overnight. The number of guests allowed to stay depends on the duration, location, and composition of your own family. Please inquire at reception for the options. Guests must always be registered at reception. The guest rate is 7 euros per person per night. It is not allowed to sublet your camping spot or accommodation.

Access wristbands for the swimming pool and indoor playground

Access wristbands are required for the swimming pool and indoor playground. You can pick them up at reception upon arrival. These wristbands are registered in your name. If your wristband breaks or is lost, you can obtain a new one for 2.50 euros at reception. We will then block the defective or lost wristband. On your departure day, the wristbands are automatically deactivated, and you should return them to reception.

Showering

The showers in our toilet buildings are free to use; no tokens, cards, or coins are needed. You can turn the shower on and off with a button or sensor. The showers provide water for a maximum of 6 minutes. You can turn the water off in between, for example, to soap up. Due to this limit, there is always a manageable and above all, clear wait time for the showers.

WiFi

Free WiFi is available throughout the campsite. Our WiFi is designed for general use such as emailing, browsing, and streaming. However, it is not equipped for more technical activities like online gaming or logging into networks outside our WiFi network. The ports necessary for these activities are mostly blocked.

Lawn mowing

We regularly mow the grass at the campsite, and the frequency depends entirely on the weather. We mow around camping spots in large lines to prevent damage to guy ropes, electrical cables, and lawnmowers. You are responsible for mowing the grass directly around your camping equipment. Push lawnmowers are available to borrow from reception.

Liability

Landgoed De Berenkuil cannot be held liable for theft, loss, or damage to goods during or as a result of your stay at the park. We also cannot accept liability for the malfunction or breakdown of technical installations or the closure or outage of facilities on the campsite. Camping is at your own risk. Of course, if you cause any damage, you are responsible for compensating it.

Please be considerate of your fellow campers so we can all have an enjoyable stay together. We recommend that you take out your own liability and/or cancellation insurance with an insurance company.

If you are asked to leave the campsite, you will not receive any refund.
